Who can go live?

The meeting's host and its co-hosts. Everyone else in the room sees the stream's status but has no way to start or end it.

How do I go live on YouTube?

  1. In YouTube Studio choose Create, then Go live, then the Stream tab. Keep this page open.
  2. In your QuiQ meeting room click Go live at the top of the screen and choose YouTube.
  3. Copy the Stream URL and Stream key from YouTube Studio into the panel.
  4. Paste your video's public link into Viewer link if you want people who reach a full room to be sent to it.
  5. Pick a layout, click Go live and confirm.

Your stream connects within a minute. Treat your stream key like a password: anyone holding it can broadcast to your channel.

How do I go live on Facebook, LinkedIn or another service?

The steps are the same. For Facebook, copy the Server URL and Stream key from Live Producer under Streaming software. For LinkedIn, create a LinkedIn Live event and choose an external streaming tool to get your Stream URL and Stream key. LinkedIn only offers this to pages and profiles with access to LinkedIn Live. For any other service, choose Custom RTMP and enter the server address it gives you.

Can I save my stream key?

Yes. Turn on Save for next time before you go live. Your key is encrypted, is only available to you, and appears only as its last four characters. Choose Replace to enter a new one, or the bin icon to remove it.

What do people in the room see?

A red LIVE badge with a timer stays at the top of everyone's screen, and a notice appears when the stream starts and ends, so they know they are being broadcast. Tell your attendees before you go live if your session includes anything private.

Which layout should I choose?

  • Speaker: whoever is talking appears large.
  • Grid: cameras side by side.
  • Screen share: your slides come first, with the speaker beside them.

You can change the layout during the stream from the same panel.

What if the stream fails?

If the service refuses your key or cannot be reached, QuiQSol tells you which it is and offers Retry. If the connection drops during a stream, you see a warning while it reconnects. Check that your live event is ready on the other service and that your key is current.

When does a stream end?

When you click End stream, when the meeting ends, after 15 minutes with every microphone and camera off, or when your workspace's streaming minutes run out. One stream runs for six hours at most.

Do recording and attendance still work during a stream?

Recording keeps running on its own. Ending the stream does not stop the recording. Attendance covers people in the room only, so viewers on YouTube or other services do not appear in it. Those services report their own viewer numbers.

How do I set up a room for a large class?

Set Expected attendees when you create a meeting type or an instant meeting, when you schedule a meeting, on the meeting's details page, or during the call from Host controls. Your room holds that many people, up to your plan's limit, and changes apply straight away.

Above 25 expected attendees, people join muted with their cameras off, and a screenful of people shows at a time with page controls. As host, you can use Mute all in the People panel at any time.

What happens when the room is full?

New arrivals see a page saying the room is full, with your stream link if a stream is running and you added a Viewer link. They can try again when someone leaves. Seats are kept for you and a co-host, so you can rejoin if your connection drops.

For a very large audience, keep your speakers in the room and send everyone else to the stream. They can watch on the service of your choice without taking a seat.
